I wonder - Many electronics that run on DC have polarity markings on them. Some even have a reverse-polarity-blocking diode in them - reverse polarity won't break it, but it won't run on it. Why not just use a couple more diodes and put a full-wave bridge rectifier in there? Then it'll run fine with either direction polarity, right?
